ABOUT MERCEDES LACKEY
An American fantasy writer, she is particularly known for her Bedlam's Bard, Diana Tregarde, and SERRAted Edge novels. Many of her works take place in the fictional country of Valdemar.
She graduated from Purdue University in 1972. At the start of her literary career, she published stories in Friends of Darkover and Fantasy Book Magazine.
She is most proud of By the Sword, a novel she published in 1991. She has worked on more than 20 different series throughout her prolific career.
She and her husband, fantasy artist Larry Dixon, settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She and Sarah Douglass are both popular fantasy writers.
