ABOUT MERL JOHNSON
Recognized for his popular recordings of bluegrass hits such as "A Better Man," "Amandalyn," and "The Briley Boys," this vocalist and fiddle, banjo, and mandolin player released his debut album, Better Man, in late 2011.
He began performing during his teen years and, at age nineteen, impressed one music reviewer with a stellar rendition of the Stanley Brothers' hit "I Only Exist."
He recorded his first album on the Patuxent Music label.
He was raised in Woodbridge, Virginia, and he later settled in Asheville and Raleigh, North Carolina.
He recorded a popular cover of the Carter Stanley song "Sweetest Love."
