Actor who starred as Colonel Paul Foster in the sci-fi TV series, UFO, and as Daniel Fogarty in the drama series, The Onedin Line.

He made his debut in a 1964 episode of The Valiant Varneys.

He was screen tested for the title role for four James Bond films, and was producer Albert R. Broccoli 's first choice in the event actor Robert Moore was unavailable.

He was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. He died of cancer in Kent.

He taught at Lee Strasberg 's London acting school in the 1990s.
