Former child actor who played Augustus Gloop in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory .

He was born in Munich, Germany.

He did not know English when he was cast in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and had to be coached on his lines by a crew member.

His father forced him to quit acting and focus on school. He eventually opened his own accounting firm.

He worked with the iconic Gene Wilder , who played the titular character in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
