Rapper who is known for his association with a hip hop fusion group called Michael Franti & Spearhead. His other musical groups include the Beatnigs and The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.
He developed a love of poetry during his time at the University of San Francisco.
He collaborated with novelist William Burroughs on a music and spoken-word album entitled Spare Ass Annie and Other Tales.
He was born into a family of mixed Native American, African-American, and Western European heritage. He married his second wife, Sara Agah, in 2015. He has two sons: Ade and Cappy. He was previously married to Tara Franti-Rye.
His song "Sometimes" was featured in Last Holiday starring Queen Latifah .
