ABOUT MICHAEL GIRA

Frontman and guitarist for the seminal experimental noise rock band Swans. He established the independent record label Young God Records in 1990. He has released 15 albums with his band Swans.

He spent over four months in a Jerusalem jail for selling drugs when he was sixteen.

He released a collection of short fiction pieces called "The Consumer" in 1995. His song "Blind" has garnered more than 6 million streams on Spotify.

He lived in Europe with his father, Robert Gira, as a child.

He and Swans' critically-acclaimed 2014 album "To Be Kind" features vocal contributions by indie pop star St. Vincent .
