ABOUT MICHAEL LEITCH

New Zealand rugby player known for playing with the Toshiba Brave Lupus in the Japanese Top League. He has also played with the Sunwolves in Super Rugby and represented the Japanese national team. He is popular on Instagram and has over 70,000 followers.

He attended St Bede's College in Christchurch, New Zealand. He later went to Tokai University and captained the Japanese U20 Junior Team.

He was appointed as Japan's captain in 2014 and lead them to victory in an upset winning against South Africa in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

He was born in Burwood, Christchurch, New Zealand to a European New Zealander father and a Fijian mother. He moved to Japan when he was 15 and became a Japanese citizen in 2013.

He and Scott McLeod are both from New Zealand and have played rugby in Japan.
