Malaysian action star who played the heroine in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon . She was introduced to the Marvel universe in 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as the character Ying Nan. People Magazine named her one of the top 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1997. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2023.
At age 21, she won the Miss Malaysia beauty pageant and represented the country in the 1983 Miss World competition.
In 2010, she starred in Reign of Assassins and James Bond: Tomorrow Never Dies .
She was married to Dickson Poon from 1988 to 1992. She began dating Jean Todt in 2004. They wed in July 2023 after a 19-year engagement.
