ABOUT MIGUEL MENDEZ
Mexican American author best known for his book Peregrinos de Aztlán.
His parents moved to Mexico during the Great Depression, but he moved back to the U.S. when he was fourteen and began to work construction.
He became a professor at the Pima Community College and later at the University of Arizona.
He had two younger sisters, one of whom died of pneumonia when he was young.
Rudolfo Anaya is another contemporary Mexican American author.
