Four-time Gold Glove Award-winning catcher who replaced Tony La Russa as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2012.

He attended the University of Michigan, where he co-captained the baseball team.

He won the prestigious Willie Mac Award in 2005 for his ability to lead and his never-ending will to win.

He had five children with his wife Kristen.

He played alongside Albert Pujols on the St. Louis Cardinals.
