She was one of the first songwriters signed to the Brumley Music Group in Nashville.
Her mother, Diane, was a touring singer who performed throughout Las Vegas and Europe. She married songwriter Jason Grainger in the early 2000s. She has four daughters.
Her husband, Jason Grainger, co-wrote Mindy McCready's 2002 song, "Maybe, Maybe Not."
