ABOUT MIRZA IBRAHIMOV

A twentieth-century author and playwright, he was also the Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan. He lobbied to make Azerbaijani an official language in a country that only recognized Russian as its native tongue.

He published his first work, Giqantlar ölkəsi, in 1932.

He also served as the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet in Azerbaijan.

When he was seven years old, he moved from Sarab to Baku with his father.

He was replaced by Anar Rzayev as the Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan.
