ABOUT MONICA GONZALEZ
Mexican-American former soccer star who played for the Mexican national team from 1998 to 2011. She later became a broadcaster who served as an analyst at the 2011 Women's World Cup.
She attended the University of Notre Dame, where she received Second-Team Academic All-American honors in 2001
She founded the non-profit clinic The Gonzo Soccer Academy, created to help hone the soccer skills of young girls.
One of her brothers played soccer at the United States Naval Academy.
She and Shannon Boxx were both standout women's soccer players at the University of Notre Dame.
