What he lacked in talent and physical size - he stood 5'10", 160 lbs - he made up for in hard work and hustle.

He was born in Superior, Wisconsin, into a religious Jewish family, his father running a chain of gas stations.

Unlike Hank Greenberg and most Jewish baseball players, Arnovich kept his diet strictly kosher.
