He became part of the U.K. garage scene at age 16.

He was nominated for four awards at the 2011 UK Asian Music Awards, including Best Male Act, Best Album, Best Urban Act, and Best Video.

His parents are Bengali Muslims. He married Nasima Yasmin Ali in 2010. The couple has a daughter named Amelia.

Both he and singer Beverly Knight have been honored at the Urban Music Awards.
