ABOUT MUNETAKA MURAKAMI

Professional third baseman that was originally taken by the Tokyo Yakult Swallows as a first-round pick in the 2017 Nippon Professional Baseball Draft. Since then, he has won multiple Central League MVP awards and a Japanese Nippon Championship Series winner. While playing with Team Japan, he won a championship during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

He first began playing baseball at the young age of five. As a high school student, he earned the nickname the 'Babe Ruth of Higo.'

During the championship game of the 2023 World Baseball Classic, he hit a home run while facing Merril Kelly. He and his team defeated the United States by the score of 3-2. His baseball fame has led him to garner over 850,000 followers on Instagram.

He grew up living with his family in the Kumamoto, Japan area.

He played alongside Shohei Ohtani as a member of Team Japan during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
