ABOUT NADIA NERINA

Prima ballerina remembered for her work with the Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, and the Royal Ballet. She created roles in Frederick Ashton 's Birthday Offering and Robert Helpmann 's Elektra, among other dance pieces.

As a child, she studied ballet with South African dancer Eileen Keegan.

She became a prima ballerina when she was just twenty-five years old -- a huge accomplishment.

She was married to financier Charles Gordon from 1956 until her death in 2008.

She and Maria Tallchief were both noted prima ballerinas.
