ABOUT NASER ALIJI

Albanian defender who signed with German 2. Bundesliga club FC Kaiserlautern in 2016 on a free transfer. In 2015, he debuted as the first ever native Macedonian to play for the Albanian senior national team after receiving his citizenship that same year.

He began his youth career in 2002 with Swiss side Baden. He subsequently joined Basel in 2008, with whom he made his professional debut in 2013.

He won his third Swiss Super League championship with Basel to conclude the 2015-2016 season. He participated as a reserve defenseman for Albania's national team during the 2016 UEFA Euro tournament.

He moved to Switzerland with his mother and two siblings at age 4.

He replaced Adama Traore during the 2015-2016 season for Basel after being recalled from his loan to Vaduz.
