ABOUT NATE SMITH

Drummer and composer who rose to fame as a member of Dave Holland's band Quintet. He has also performed alongside artists such as Ravi Coltrane , Jose James and John Patitucci. He has appeared on The Today Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with David Letterman .

He got a B.S. in media arts and design from James Madison University.

He was featured in and editorial in the October 2012 issue of Modern Drummer magazine.

He was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. He discovered his musical talents at the age of 11 from watching his older brother play the drums for years.

He met legendary drummer Dave Holland while in graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University.
