ABOUT NEIL MITCHELL

Australian radio host and presenter on Melbourne AM talk-back station 3AW since March 1987. He moved to the morning program in 1990 and has been an influential voice. He is popular on Twitter and has over 60,000 followers.

He became a journalist at the age of 17 right out of high school. He was a reporter, columnist, and news executive at The Age for 16 years. He also worked at Time Magazine.

In 1985, he was one of the youngest editors at The Herald. He has won eight Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards and numerous other accolades over his career. He won the 2013 Walkley Award and the 2013 Best Radio Current Affairs Report for his reporting on Ford Motors halting local manufacturing in Australia.

He was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. He is the son of a school teacher. He was married in 1980 and has a son and daughter.

He and Veronica Milsom are both Australian radio hosts.
