Most well-known for bringing to life Scottish maiden Laoghaire MacKenzie on the hit television series Outlander . She would then join the cast of 2016's Victoria as Skerrett. She has appeared in over 60 episodes of television throughout her ongoing career

She earned a degree in acting from the Oxford School of Drama in 2012. She followed by making her screen debut in an episode of Holby City that same year.

A singer-songwriter, she toured with Jools Holland in 2014. In 2022, she played Ruth in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre .

She has dated Will Taylor, the lead singer of the band Flyte.

While on Outlander, her character vied for the heart of Sam Heughan 's character Jamie Fraser.
