He studied in Luxembourg, Cologne, and Weimar.
He co-founded the Luxembourg Salon de la Secession in 1927 as a reaction against Impressionism and 19th-century artistic trends.
He was born in the southeastern region of Luxembourg in a town on the River Moselle.
His post-Impressionist style of painting was inspired by the work of Vincent Van Gogh .
