The daughter of Lea Salonga , a singer and actress most well known for lending her singing voice to the character of Jasmine in Aladdin and the title character in Disney's Mulan.

Her parents were married in 2004 in Los Angeles, California.

A talented singer like her mother, she performed a rendition of "Yesterday's Dream" which earned more than 9 million views on YouTube.

Her father is Robert Charles Chien, a managing director for an entertainment software company. Her uncle, Gerard Salonga, is a renowned conductor.

In 2016, her mother joined the cast of Miss Saigon: 25th Anniversary alongside Alistair Brammer .
