ABOUT NOéMIE MERLANT

French cinema actress known for her leading role in the award winning film, Portrait of a Lady on Fire. She also acted in the popular movies, Mi Iubita, Mon Amour and Paper Flags.

She attended the Cours Florent acting school in Paris. Her first acting credit in a feature film came in La Permission de Minuit, in 2011.

She is naturally left-handed, in Portrait of a Lady on Fire she had to learn to paint with her right hand.

She grew up in the Atlantic Loire region of France, the daughter of two real estate agents.

Elodie Bouchez won the Lumières Award for Best Actress the year before Merlant.
