ABOUT NORAH RICHARDS
Irish-born stage actress, director, writer, and theater producer remembered for her contributions to Punjabi theater in India. She was involved with Punjabi arts and culture for six decades of her life.
She produced her first Indian play, Dulhan, in 1914.
Shortly before her death, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by Punjabi University in Patiala.
She married English professor Philip Earnest Richards in the early 1900s. The couple moved from England to Lahore, India in 1908.
She and actor Amrish Puri were both active in the Indian theater world.
