ABOUT OLE EVINRUDE
Creator of one of the first internal combustion engines used for watercrafts. He also created a line of Evinrude motors.
He started working on his motor in 1906. Three years later, he had his first practical design, a 1.5hp one-cylinder power plant.
He sold his early invention to his partner, then started a competing one and reacquired the business, continuing to innovate throughout the early years of the Great Depression.
He was born in Oslo, Norway, settling with his family in Cambridge, Wisconsin, by 1882.
He was competitors with Carl Kiekhaefer , maker of the popular line of Mercury outboard engines.
