Olive Higgins Prouty
ABOUT OLIVE HIGGINS PROUTY
An American novelist and poet, she is best known for such works as Now, Voyager and Stella Dallas. The former work is part of her famous Vale novel series.
She graduated from Smith College in 1904. She published her first literary work, Bobbie, General Manager, in 1913.
Following the death of her daughter, she suffered from a nervous breakdown that lasted nearly two years.
With her husband, Lewis Prouty, she had four children.
She encouraged the career of poet Sylvia Plath .
