He was a great student as well as an academic All-American at West Virginia University.

He was appointed as director of the sports program at West Virginia University.

His son Andrew Luck was also an excellent student, choosing to complete his architecture degree in Stanford before going to the NFL.

Geno Smith was another great West Virginia quarterback.
