He first became known in 2016 after he released the single "Lay Down" along with the single's music video.

His documentary, Word of Mouth, was set to accompany his debut mixtape Loyalty Over Love in 2017.

He was born into a musical family in Mobile, Alabama. He has occasionally posted photos of his mother and son, nicknamed Lil Peezy, on Instagram.
