ABOUT ÓSCAR VALDEZ
Mexican boxer who took home silver at the Pan American Games in 2011. He previously won the Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships in 2008.
He upset Carlos Cuadras at the Pan American Games in 2007.
In 2009, he became the first Mexican boxer to medal at the AIBA World Boxing Championships.
His father worked at a mine in Tucson, Arizona.
He and Ukraine's Vasyl Lomachenko both competed in the Featherweight division at the 2009 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
