ABOUT OWEN BAGGETT
Second lieutenant in the United States Air Force during the Second World War. He gained fame for shooting down an aircraft using a pistol, while hanging from a parachute after his own plane was shot down.
In 1941, he graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He was the band's drum major.
He was held prisoner by the Japanese for more than two years.
He was survived by his daughter, Diana Farrar, of San Antonio, Texas.
He is one of many famous war heroes, including Audie Murphy .
