ABOUT PALANIAPPAN CHIDAMBARAM

India's Finance Minister who took over in 2012, after also serving in the 90s. He is also a well-known and successful corporate lawyer.

He was India's Commerce minister in the 1990s, an integral part of building its newly-emerging economy.

In a country where many politicians were known for their laid-back style, he showed himself to be a hard worker, spending 12 hours a day at the office to get his work done.

He had one child with his wife Nalini Chidambaram.

He took over the post of Finance Minister from Manmohan Singh , who became the Prime Minister of India in 2012.
