Famous during the 1950s for her roles in films such as Money from Home and Hollywood or Bust, this screen actress later starred in the television shows Please Don't Eat the Daisies, Port Charles, and Generations.
Early in her career, she performed on Broadway in productions of Southern Exposure, Four Twelves are 48, and Tovarich.
She played the role of Emily Fallmont on the 1980s soap opera Dynasty.
Her first marriage, to Ed Hookstratten, resulted in children named Ann and Jon. She later married Andy Friendly.
She appeared with Ginger Rogers in the 1953 film Forever Female.
