NHL Hall of Fame center who played his entire 15-year career in New York, with the Rangers, Islanders and Buffalo Sabres.
He spent a year in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, scoring an astounding 104 goals in 70 games.
He retired with an average of 1.17 points per game, which set a record amongst American-born NHL players.
He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri.
He and Mario Lemieux played together in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
