ABOUT PATRA
Jamaican dancehall singer who gained popularity in 1990s for her albums Queen of the Pack and Scent of Attraction. After a hiatus of almost a decade, she returned to music with the release of the 2003 album The Great Escape.
She started her career as a DJ under the name Lady Patra before releasing her first album in 1993.
She had several singles chart in the mid-1990s, including "Worker Man," which reached number one on the US Dance chart.
She grew up in Kingston, Jamaica. Her real name is Dorothy Smith.
She was part of a large collaboration that recorded "Freedom (Theme From Panther)" in 1995, a collaboration that included Mary J. Blige .
