ABOUT PAUL ROSE
Infamous for heading the violent Chenier Cell of the Quebec Liberation Front, this political figure turned terrorist was convicted of the abduction and murder of Quebecois Liberal Party politician Pierre Laporte during the October Crisis of 1970.
In his early adulthood years, he joined the Rally for National Independence political party and, in the late 1960s, became involved in the radical activities of the Front de Liberation du Quebec.
In the early 1990s, after serving time in prison, he stirred controversy by becoming the leader of the Parti de la Democratie Socialiste, or Party of the Socialist Democracy.
Born to Abigal and Paul Henply Rose, he and his brother and fellow Quebec Liberation front member Jacques Rose were raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Rose and Canadian poet and politician Gerald Godin were both arrested during the 1970 October Crisis.
