Author and politician who was the 8th Governor General of Papua New Guinea from 2004 to 2010.
He was a columnist for the National Newspaper.
His autobiographical book "My Childhood in New Guinea" is a classroom staple in his homeland and he served as the first Papua New Guinean Ambassador to the US.
He was born and raised under British rule in Papua New Guinea.
He and Paias Wingti are important former leaders of Papua New Guinea.
