ABOUT PEDRO JOAQUIN CHAMORRO
Journalist who once servied as the editor of La Prensa, the only newspaper in opposition to the Somoza family.
He was a law student when he first started protesting against Somoza, which secured him jail time for his views.
He was the laureate of the Maria Moors Cabot Prize of the University of Columbia in 1977.
He married Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, who later went on to become the Nicaraguan president.
Chamorro and Augusto Sandino were both against Somoza.
