ABOUT PETE GRAY

Speedy outfielder known for his ability to play baseball despite only having one arm; he played in 1945 for the St. Louis Browns.

He was right-handed but lost that arm to amputation after a truck accident when he was six years old.

Pitchers found that they could get him out more easily with breaking pitches because he couldn't effectively adjust mid-swing with only one arm.

He was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania.

Run-producing shortstop Vern Stephens was his teammate on the Browns.
