ABOUT PHYLLIS REYNOLDS NAYLOR

Most famous for her Newbery Medal winning Shiloh series, Naylor also penned The Witch Saga series; the controversial Alice books; the Besseldorf Mysteries, and numerous other works of young adult fiction.

After earning a bachelor's degree from American University, she published her debut children's work, The Galloping Goat and Other Stories.

Her first Shiloh novel earned not only the prestigious Newbery Medal, but also the Mark Twain Readers Award; the Sequoyah Children's Book Award; a Library Association Notable Children's Book designation; and the William Allen White Children's Book Award.

She grew up in Anderson, Indiana. Her more than five decade marriage to Rex Naylor resulted in sons named Michael and Jeffrey.

She and fellow young adult fiction writer John Green were both born in Indiana.
