ABOUT PIERRE BERTON
A Canadian historian and non-fiction author, he is known for works such as The Secret World of Og; The National Dream: The Great Railway; and 1967: The Last Good Year.
He worked in Klondike mining camps while studying at the University of British Columbia.
The Pierre Berton Award was established in his honor in 1994.
He was born in the Yukon Territory to Laura Beatrice Berton and Frank Berton.
He and Daniel Magder both attended the University of British Columbia.
