ABOUT RACHEL FIELD
Poet and children's author known for Hitty, Her First Hundred Years; Something Told the Wild Geese; and Time Out of Mind. She was a recipient of both the Newbery Honor and the National Book Award.
She attended Radcliffe College. She published one of her earliest poetry collections, The Pointed People, in 1924.
She wrote lyrics for the popular Disney musical film, Fantasia.
She and her husband, Arthur Pederson, had two children.
She was inspired by the work of Lewis Carroll .
