ABOUT RAE ARMANTROUT
American Language poet who is best known for a Pulitzer Prize-winning collection entitled Versed. Her other poetic works include Necromance, Made to Seem, and Next Life.
She studied at San Diego State University and at the University of California-Berkeley. She published her debut poetry collection, Extremities, in 1978.
She was a California Arts Council Fellowship recipient in 1989.
She grew up primarily in Southern California as the only child born to a military family. She married Chuck Korkegian in 1971.
Her poetry has been compared to that of William Carlos Williams .
