ABOUT RAFAEL BENíTEZ

Former sweeper whose career spanned from 1974 to 1986; became a longtime manager after retiring, having a great deal of success coaching Valencia from 2001 to 2004 and Liverpool from 2004 to 2010.

He began his professional career with Real Madrid Castilla in 1974.

He received his first coaching job with Real Madrid's B squad in 1993.

He married Maria de Montserrat in 1988. He has two daughters, Agata and Claudia.

He began coaching goalkeeper Pepe Reina on Napoli in 2013.
