ABOUT RAFAEL BORDALO PINHEIRO
Illustrator and sculptor who was the first Portuguese creator of comics. He was also a master caricaturist and ceramics designer.
He started drawing cartoons and caricatures for humor magazines when he was young.
He created the iconic Portuguese comic character, everyman Ze Povinho.
His father, painter Manuel Maria Bordalo Pinheiro, was his primary teacher. His brother was famed painter Columbano.
He and Sempe are fellow cartoon artists.
