ABOUT RAMAN LAMBA
Indian international cricketer known for playing for the Indian men's cricket team. He is best known for his death after being hit hard in the head by a cricket ball on February 20, 1998, and succumbed to his injuries three days later on February 23rd.
He played cricket as a batsman and fielder. He joined the Indian cricket team after being drafted to play in a tour of Australia in 1986 and played for the Indian team and for various club teams until his death.
His death prompted the requirement that all cricket players need to wear a helmet. There were tributes from all over the world when Lamba died. His wife, Kim, paid him a moving tribute when she put the cap of his local team, Sonnet Club, on Lamba.
He was born and raised in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. He married Kim Lambda in 1990. He died while fielding without a helmet at the Bangabandhu Stadium in Bangladesh on February 23rd, 1998.
He played alongside Kapil Dev and Krishnamachari Srikkanth for the Indian national team.
