ABOUT RAMDHARI SINGH DINKAR
Indian poet, translator, and political figure who became known for Kurukshetra and other Hindi-language poems. His literary honors include the prestigious Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi awards.
He published his first poem in the mid-1920s in the midst of the Indian freedom movement.
He served in the Indian parliament from 1952 through 1964.
He was born into a poverty-stricken family in a village in the Indian district of Bihar.
His early political sentiments tended toward the revolutionary; however, his views mellowed to a more Mahatma Gandhi an perspective as he grew older.
