ABOUT RAMON REVILLA SR.
Known best for his more than five-decade career as a Filipino screen actor, this star of the 1972 film Nardong Putik pursued a second career as a politician, serving from 1992 to 2004 in the Senate of the Philippines.
He earned a degree in business from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. He made his cinematic debut in the 1951 movie Pepeng Saclaw.
In 2011, Filipino visual artist Eduardo Castrillo crafted a bronze, ten-meter-tall statue of Revilla.
Born José Acuña Bautista, he grew up with nine siblings in Imus, Philippines. Through numerous relationships, he fathered at least thirty-eight children, including a daughter named Evelyn (who became the wife of basketball legend Robert Jaworski) and an actor son named Ram who tragically became a murder victim in his early twenties.
In 2011, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo attended Revilla's eighty-fourth birthday celebration.
