ABOUT RANDY TURPIN
Nicknamed The Leamington Licker, he dominated English middleweight boxing throughout the mid-20th century.
He first began training at Leamington Boys' Club as a teen.
He won the world middleweight championship in 1951.
His older brother Dick inspired him to start boxing and would serve as his trainer throughout his career.
He defeated Sugar Ray Robinson for the world middleweight title in 1951, but he lost the title in a rematch at the end of the same year. He committed suicide in 1966.
