Award-winning actress and filmmaker recognized for her roles in films like The Second Mother, Me You Them, and Made in China. She is also a screenwriter, director, and producer responsible for Central da Periferia, Esquenta!, and City of Men.
She began her career in 1974 cofounding the theatre company Asdrúbal Trouxe o Trombone.
In 2016, she was a part of the opening ceremonies for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
She was born to Geraldo Casé and Heleida Barreto. She was married to Luíz Zerbini from 1982 until 1996, and they had a daughter named Benedita. She then married Estevão Ciavatta in 1999, and they have a son named Roque.
In 1988, she appeared in the American film Moon Over Parador directed by Paul Mazursky .
